What does it mean that you are a Reform rabbi? What if I’m not Reform?

What does it mean that you are a Reform rabbi? What if I’m not Reform?

Judaism comes in all kinds of flavors! The largest movements within Judaism are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist. All of the movements share the same core, but traditions can look different between them. I grew up belonging to a Conservative synagogue, but I chose to study at the Reform movement’s rabbinical school (Hebrew Union College) and I was ordained as a rabbi within the Reform movement.

I will happily work with Jewish or interfaith couples and families, including those who are Jews by choice, regardless of whether you identify with a particular movement. Sometimes I hear people say they are “just” culturally Jewish, but being culturally Jewish is a wonderful way to be Jewish! Judaism is a religion, heritage, culture, history, and a never-ending platter of delicious foods! I am delighted to work with people from all blends of Jewish backgrounds.
