Baby Namings

A baby naming is a warm, festive way to gather family and formally welcome a new baby to the Jewish people. Jewish babies are Jewish from the moment they are born, but this ceremony offers an opportunity for parents to announce the baby’s Hebrew name to the community. I perform baby namings for girls or boys (whether or not you opt for a circumcision). I also officiate bris / brit milah ceremonies, though you will need a separate mohel / mohelet to perform the medical procedure.

Before or after your child is born, I work with families to help you select a meaningful Hebrew name for your child. My services also include a personal naming certificate as a keepsake. Namings are often held in the first weeks or months of a baby’s life, but knowing that those weeks are very hectic for families, I am happy to perform a naming at any point to help a child celebrate their Hebrew name!
